This thread is about lithuanian national movement, organizations, webpages and so on. This thread will be english/lithuanian, because I cant write in your language (but I start to understand a little bit). First, I will try to tell about main organizations of nationalistic lithuanians, if you have any questions, I will try to answer them.

Also - it would be worthwhile, if we could publish some Lithuanian patriotic songs (along with Latvian ones) in our Web sites. We have some Lithuanian folksongs in dialects, but we would also want some traditional songs by Maironis. If someone has words or music (MIDI or sheet music as TIFF, PDF), it would be very useful for our free LilyPond music project.

I'm not sure, but could it be Gedimin's columns (Gediminaičių stulpai)? This symbol is clearly about the Lithuanian statehood, but it is not used for official purposes (as emblem with Vytis) There is also a popular picture of an "iron wolf" (geležinis vilkas), which is related to a legend on how Vilnius was founded.

Neesmu pilnīgi pārliecināts, bet izskatās, ka viena lietuviešu nacionālistu emblēma ir Ģedimina stabi (kuru atšķirībā no ģerboņa ar bruņinieku Vīti, neizmanto oficiālām/valsts funkcijām). Un ir arī dzelzs vilks, kurš esot parādījies sapnī Viļņas dibinātājam.

My contact with Lithuania was filming the founding of Sajūdis as a freelancer for British ITN and a number of other TV organizations back in 1988. I had just covered the Latvian Tautas Fronte a couple of weeks earlier. I still remember clearly the very happy crowds in some kind of candlelight march and thinking at the time, that it all could end with tanks and gunfire. Strangely, it did, a few years later with the massacre at the TV Tower. You younger Lithuanian guys and girls may not remember any of this. I wasn't there for January 1991, but I told the foreign news editor of Swedish television to go to Vilnius because I had a bad feeling about what was going on. He ended up doing a stand up (that is when you talk to the camera on site) with the BMPs rolling down the street behind him. Those were wild and exciting times.

Well we dont have any special logo, only lithuanian flag sewed on clothes.

We can see some nationalists sewed Gedimin's columns, but its rare.

Patriotai.lt unites most of lithuanian nationalists, it is biggest (only?) nationalistic news portal.

Lietuvių Tautinis Centras (Lithuanian National Center)
It is an "umbrella" type organization, witch unites most lithuanian nationalists and their organizations.

They are organizatiors of biggest lithuanian nationalist event - our independence day march.

What about freedom of speech and assembly?

One of the fundamental rights of a democracy is the freedom of speech and assembly, regardless of the content of such speech or the purpose of a public gathering.

Attempts to stop the Baltic Pride in Vilnius (which failed in the courts) by Lithuanian nationalists make one wonder whether this brand of nationalism is compatible with fundamental democratic freedoms.

You don't have to sympathize with gay people or be gay to respect their right to express their views, nor does one have to sympathize with religious conservatives to support their equal right to the opinion that there is something wrong with homosexuality.

Unless both sides have equal rights to present their views and, sometimes, to have a non-violent debate or even a confrontation (with no physical attacks), YOU DO NOT HAVE FULL DEMOCRACY,

So where do you stand? For a democratic Lithuania or for government censorship -- which amounts to the state telling you what you may or may not hear, see or read.

My comment was in response to something TRA wrote on another thread (in Latvian) about Lithuania and homosexuality. I didn't answer there to avoid creating an unnecessary mixture of languages. I think Jānis won't mind one or two threads (if some Estonians show up) where people can communicate in an international language (English, of course) about questions of interest to all three nations.

No. There were no SS division in Lithuania. We got big rezistence fights, but we dont have one big day. We celebrate single battles, birthdays of patrisans leaders, but it is nothing similar like your great day.

Lithuanian nationalists biggest event - Our independence day 03 11. We got a huge march that day.

We were celabrating Latvian independence declaration day and watched Latvijas Etnokulturas Centrs movie "Nekas nav aizmirsts". Great movie! As member of LTJS (LNYU) I'm going to show that movie to all our filials. We got lithuanian subtitres by Latvian-Lithuanian unity activists.

It is against European Union dictatorship. We think, that Lithuania is no longer independent. We lost our freedom by joining EU.

Ocupants and fifth column decided to do they "victory march". We showed with mourning-bands on Lithuanian flag, because their victory day were ocupation day for lithuanians. You can see some people with partisans and lithuanian (1918-1940) uniforms, partisans pictures.

As far as I heared we will send invitations to VL, Nationalists club.
I'm not working on that, so I may be incorect.

Now I'm looking at camp schedule and I can see, that there will be daily language (lithuanian for latvians, latvian for lithuanians) lessions.
1st day - familiarisation day.
2nd - crafts and poetry day.
3rd - work, cinema and dance day.
4rd - resistance day. (lectures about lithuanian rezistence fights with soviets, but we were talking that it would be nice if we could hear about latvian legion too. Again, I'm not working on that, I dont know if it is added)
5th - politics, farewell and exam day.

Some people are working day and night to make this camp perfect. And still - we have a little delay.

Jaunatnes nometne „Mūsu saknes – balti”
